Chatham, MA Community Preservation Committee

The Community Preservation Committee, or CPC, proposes any appropriations from Chatham's Community Preservation Fund (CPF). The CPF is generated by revenues from a property tax surcharge, matched in part by funds from the state. These funds may be used for specific types of projects: to acquire and preserve open space; to preserve or restore historic resources; to acquire or create affordable housing; or to acquire or preserve land for recreational purposes. Projects may be recommended by any individual, non-profit group or Town department. If endorsed by the CPC, the project will go to Town Meeting where a majority vote is required to authorize the appropriation.
