THE ANNUAL TOWN ELECTION SCHEUDLED FOR APRIL 6, 2020 - HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO A FUTURE DATE TO BE DETERMINED BY THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN. In response to the State of Emergency and concerns about COVID-19 and its implications on election administration, and in accordance with Chapter 45 of the Acts of 2020, a law authorizing the Board of Selectmen to vote to postpone the local election which was scheduled for this Monday, April 6th, 2020. The Selectmen voted Monday, March 30th to postpone the Town of Barre’s Annual Town Election to a future date to be determined by the Board of Selectmen and Town Clerk before June 30th. Once a new date and any other changes in time or location or procedure have been determined the Town of Barre will post this notice on the town Facebook page, website www.townofbarre.com ; My Town Government www.mytowngovernment.org/01005 ; and additional notice through the Barre Gazette. There will be a new voter registration deadline on the 10th day before the rescheduled election for those wishing to register to vote. Online Registration is available at www.RegisterToVoteMA.com . All existing election materials with the April 6th date including Absentee and Regular Ballots will be used for the new election date. Absentee or Early Voting ballots by MAIL ONLY are available to vote now. Applications, instructions and a sample ballot are available from the Town’s website or by calling the Town Clerk’s Office at 978-355-2504 ext 5. All incumbent Officials whose terms would have expired with the April 6th Election, will continue to serve in their elected capacities until their successor’s are duly elected and sworn.to
