BANISTER MEMORIAL HALL, MERRICK PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES Monday, January 14, 2018 Call meeting to order at 6:31 p.m. ATTENDANCE: Sally Brown (SB) , Barbara Clancy (BC), Barbara Steadman (BLS), Matt Bansfield (MB, Carol Plumb (CP), Shelby Hill (SOH), Brenda Metterville, (B) Yes. 18 Common Street Committee; Donald Faugno, Traci Hill, Lois O’Leary Friends of the Library planned fundraisers: May--Silent Auction, June--Book and yard sale, June –Birds of Prey program in barn, entrance fee. Prepare survey for the month of March—include in the Citizen, this will be due February 20 (due after next Trustees meeting). What other information should the Historical Commission include on the survey in the Citizen for February? Review Minutes from December 10, 2018. Motion by Ratify Library payroll FY19 warrant dated December 13 & 27, 2018 and January 10, 2019 Ratify Library Expense FY19 warrants dated December 19 and January 9, 2019. Ratify Library Book FY19 warrants dated December 12 & 19 and January 8, 2019. Motion by CIPC Draft of the ADA review for the town of Brookfield, Brenda has submitted the edits discussed at the December meeting. We should set up conference with a representative of the Massachusetts Historical Commission, MHC, on using the library property (if we put a separate building on the property is the $100,000 threshold on the library, what influence does this have), ADA upgrades, to what extent do we have to go with the recommendations and still preserve the intrinsic value of the historic integrity with the Preservation Restrictions Agreement with MHC. The annual conflict of interest law education and training is now available online for all committee members, elected and appointed, along with all town employees. The deadline to submit certificate to Town Clerk is April 5. Massachusetts Higher Education Consortium (MHEC) sent annual report on savings through the consortium. FY18 Gross value was $35,907, Net Sales $21,942 with savings $13,965 on library books and supplies. Reviewed applications for Custodian, Brenda hired Margaret Aubin on December 15, 2018. Arthur Putnam (retired Custodian) assisted with training, he will be on call and will substitute when she has time off. Other business? Next meeting will be Monday, February 11, 2019 at 6:30 p.m.
