There will be a regular meeting of the Traffic Safety Committee on
Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 4:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the
Chatham Police Department, 249 George Ryder Road, in the Training Room.

- Request for Slow Dangerous Curve Sign
Barn Hill Road in area of #173
Requested 8/23/13 by: Rita Russian, 38 Hilltop Lane, Chatham
At the TSC meeting on 9/26/13, Rita Russian spoke to the committee on the need for a warning sign in the area of 173 Barn Hill Road. A roadside obstruction (mail box) was also mentioned as a possible safety hazard. Jeff Colby advised the committee that upcoming road paving may help to soften the curve of the roadway. Committee members asked Mr. Colby to review the need for signage and mail box relocation after the paving is complete and report back to the committee. Report from Jeff Colby at meeting on 1/30/14.
- Request for Improved/Additional Signage
Route 28/Main Street at the Rotary
Requested 8/25/13 by: George Myers, 443 Main Street, Chatham
At the TSC meeting on 9/26/13, George Myers spoke to the committee about his request for signage at the Route 28 rotary. Mr. Myers handed out additional information on signage suggestions, sample signage and photos of existing signs that need to be replaced. The committee liaisons, Jeff Colby and John Cauble advised the committee members that the signs at the rotary and prior to the rotary on Route 28 are Mass D.O.T. signs. The signs are not under the jurisdiction of the Town of Chatham of the Traffic Safety Committee. The committee members agreed that most of the rotary signage needed to be updated. The committee liaisons will draft a letter to Mass D.O.T. The draft letter will be reviewed by the committee members at the next meeting, and then forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for approval.
