Shellfish Advisory Committee Agenda for Thursday, October 11, 2012 to be held at 9:00 AM in the small conference room at the Annex:
The committee is meeting solely to decide if an earlier opening date of the 2012 scallop season is feasible. Constable Renee Gagne and Propagation Specialist Rachel Hutchinson have been monitoring this year’s adult scallops to determine if, before being harvested, they have spawned sufficiently to maintain an ongoing wild crop for future seasons. The opening date chosen will be considered a seasonal regulation change and will be posted on the shellfish bulletin board at the Town Offices and announced in the Chatham publication, The Cape Cod Chronicle, the week following the meeting.
