Community Development Block Grant Program
Public Meeting
The Hardwick Community Development Advisory Committee will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 5:00 PM at the Hardwick’s Senior Center, 307 Main Street. The committee will lead a discussion on the Community Development Block Grant program which provides funding for community development projects such as housing rehabilitation, street and sidewalks improvements, and various public social service projects.  The meeting will focus on a proposed sewer infrastructure improvements located in the Prospect and Broad Street neighborhood. The meeting will also allow residents the opportunity to provide input and support for improvements in Gilbertville.
As a part of a previous CDBG grant, funding was made available to conduct a design study for a Prospect and Broad Street sewer infrastructure improvements. The engineering study was conducted by Lenard Engineering. A representative from Lenard Engineering will be on hand to discuss proposed improvements that may include sewer upgrades, roadway, and sidewalk reconstruction. A staff member from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission will also be on hand to discuss the Community Development Block Grant program (CDBG) and describe eligible projects under the program.
In addition, the meeting will also discuss Hardwick’s ongoing community development activities including public social services such as domestic violence prevention and family support services, as well as discuss possible future projects. In addition to proposed Prospect and Broad Street improvements, future projects may include an architectural design study for an elevator in the Town Hall, and a water main extension project on Main Street.
