AGENDA
THURSDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2020
1. DBC welcomes David Warren, our newest volunteer.
2. Secretary’s report.
3. Treasure’s report.
4. Watering in-ground gardens: Dalton Fire Department unable to assist DBC per Chief Cahalan, as there is currently no tank truck available. Due to budgetary constraints no replacement this year.
5. Garden review: planting pansies at 707 opened the 2020 spring season bringing instant color after bleak winter. Planting mums at 707 last fall seemed to keep vehicles off the space over winter. Should DBC continue planting there? If not, DBC must return this space to its original state of grass and inform inform Mass Highway Are more tulip bulbs necessary to fill in empty spaces observed in median springtime show of early color 2020.
6. Summer annuals for in-ground gardens: Is current planting design to be continued? Changes? Osteospermum in yellow with purple centers were hardy, colorful additions this summer. Lenita says these plants are from a different grower. Peter suggests change for South Street, i.e. only marigolds, in yellow and orange, as they seem to thrive.
7.Bridge Baskets and Library planters…same design. Are new boxes necessary at Library?
8. Facebook has a Dalton Beautification Commission presentation designed by Bob Merry. World-Wide advertisement! Thanks Bob.
9. End of season tasks: annuals removal [date/time ]. Soil evaluation, need for replenishing?
