Call meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Review, edit minutes from, Wednesday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m., 2017. Motion to accept, all in favor.
Ratify Library payroll FY17 warrants dated June 29, June 30, July 13, July 27, and August 10, August 24 and September 7, 2017. Motion by, all in favor.
Ratify Library Expense FY17 warrants dated June 19, June 19 FY18, July 14, August 7, August 21 and September 5, 2017. Motion by, all in favor.
Ratify Library Book FY17 warrant dated July 14, July 24, August 7, August 21 and September 5, 2017. Motion by all in favor.
The chairman of the CIPC is requesting from town Department a list of any anticipated capital expenses for FY18 expected to be placed on the fall STM warrant. Brenda had a conversation with Karen regarding the timing of the STM and said it may be closer to November for this meeting. Although we did not receive the MHC grant we need to discuss completion of work described in grant. Our request was for STM $7400.
We had an incident on Friday, July 14 when as Julia and Brenda were entering the building the hanging light over the reading area fell and broke. Sally and Brenda went to purchase a replacement light in Leicester for $505. Phil Chaffee has come in to review materials he will need to replace all the wiring on all the chains. Sample. Phil believes the wire came from Gavitt Wire. His estimate for repairs and materials is @$400. Electricity was installed in 1921 and Worcester County Gas was cancelled in 1922.
We had numerous complaints in June July about ‘cat piss smell’ in library. The moisture was trapped beneath the vapor barrier where the HVAC is housed in basement. We had Fran White come to investigate (he had same complaint!). All the joints in the piping for plumbing were seeping, he replaced @20 feet of piping with cooper and assisted with the dehumidifier to drain through the HVAC system, for the summer the setting has been always on, we will adjust that as we stop using AC. And the odor has left the building.
Memorial donation policy. It has been suggested we set up a donation policy from plates in books for book donations, to murals on the wall, bookcase plates, incorporating the Eagle Scout project into this too?
Eagle Scout project by Tyler Locke (2017-2018). He is a resident of Brookfield and Troop 238 in East Brookfield. Brenda suggested a pergola over Bryan Simmons 2007 Eagle Scout Project. Through a series of emails, Tyler really likes the idea. Discussion?
FY18 ARIS report was submitted to MBLC by the deadline August 18, 2017. This report contains our circulation numbers, library visits, non-resident use, staffing, etc. The MAR report is due October 6. This report is our budget. The budget voted on $117,650. at the town meeting is short $1000, we will need to add an article to the STM to meet the state law requirements.
We have happily identified one of our nameless portraits as Mr. George W. Johnson (of the Vonhold house). He was one of the founders of the Merrick Public Library in 1867, and he was president of the building committee for Banister Memorial Hall. He was Trustee for 15 years. Thank you Julia for the research!
