Short term gain, space in the library, long term more important for the historical commission, selling point. Cataloging Elm Hill Farm. Multiple uses is important to explain.
•	Most important: Adjacent property to the library.
•	The library has 2500 square feet. By combining the library and commission historic collections we create a vibrant historic collection of Brookfield’s history and convenient place to display it. This move will free 70 square feet in the library.
•	The importance of more meeting space: town appointed committees who meet and store town owned equipment in private homes. Current organizations meeting at 18 Common Street include: Friends of the Library, Historical Commission, Library’s Book Group, Community Club, and Dynamics of Democracy high school senior with Don Faugno for historical commission.
•	Examples of additions/renovations—North Brookfield, long established historical museum on third floor had to move out (is now housed in the basement of a town owned building with less than half of previous space at the library), upon opening new/renovated operating costs so high town would not fund more staff.
