Public Hearing Notice
Notice is hereby given that the Chatham Tree Warden will hold a public hearing, on October 3, 2023, at 5:30 PM in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 87, during the regularly scheduled Chatham Select Board Meeting, to listen to concerns over proposed public shade tree removal. The meeting will be held in the large conference room at the Town Offices Annex, 261 George Ryder Road.
Two trees are proposed for removal to accommodate the implementation of the Eldredge Public Library Site Master Plan Project for site access safety improvements adjacent to library site as listed below:
Along Main Street – One Tree: 32” Horse Chestnut
Along Library Lane – One Tree: 12” Norway Maple
A map indicating the locations of the trees proposed for removal will be posted at the Town Offices, 549 Main Street, Chatham, MA 02633 - 508-945-5100.
The public is welcome to attend the meeting in-person or via a link in the Select Board meeting’s posted agenda.
All interested parties are encouraged to participate.

Notice is hereby given that the Chatham Tree Warden will hold a public hearing, on October 3, 2023, at 5:30 PM in accordance with M.G.L. Chapter 87, during the regularly scheduled Chatham Select Board Meeting, to listen to concerns over proposed public shade tree removal. The meeting will be held in the large conference room at the Town Offices Annex, 261 George Ryder Road.
Proposed tree removal is to accommodate a new bike path along the eastern edge of George Ryder Road. The proposed path will connect the existing trail, at its terminus along the northern side of Route 28, to the existing bike path crossing just south of the Chatham Airport.
32 trees are proposed to be removed as part of this project. They vary in size and type and are listed in more detail below (for reference, Station 10+75 is at the northernmost driveway entrance to Ocean State Job Lot on George Ryder Road and stations (or feet) extend toward the northerly direction):
